I disagree with the term "eco-communist" though for the Royal Society's theologians. "Eco-feudalists" is much nearer.
Communists are by definition people who understand capitalism (or try to.) What's striking about the experts you quote is their complete detachment from historical and scientific data, as your article makes clear. Their "big argument" about intrinsic relationships ..with nature" and "senses of identity, sense of place, cultural relationships and rituals" is entirely subjective. At best , it's about aesthetics, but more likely an appeal to a cosy feeling of a nice picnic in the countryside.
When the WHO named COVID-19 a "Public Health Emergency on International Concern", emergency powers were enacted within all of the signatory countries. These powers turn the governments into "parliamentary dictatorships", justified because of the threat underlying the emergency. Despite normal coronavirus prevailing, the PHEIC designation continues in place. Our governments continue to have emergency powers and I posit that, as the present Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards puts it, the parliamentary dictatorship is "choos(ing) to preserve the legislature as a continued pretence to mask its authoritarianism... it has ceased to be a Parliamentary democracy in any meaningful sense." The WHO's disproportionate, ongoing PHEIC designation for coronavirus, is being used as a cover to further the interests and control of the already very wealthy, under the guise of the UN's "Sustainable Development Goals" . In essence, it is imperative to scrutinise and ultimately terminate these emergency powers, thereby ensuring that the judiciary can operate independently and uphold the principles of democracy and accountability without the constraints imposed by authoritarian measures.
